HoeDown Raises $70K+

The Ski Town USA Rotary Club's 3rd Annual September Hoedown was a resounding success, raising more than $70,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Colorado as well as it own philanthropy efforts.

"It's always a super fun time, getting together with all our friends and supporters while raising funds for a great cause," says Hoedown Committee Chair and Ski Town USA Rotary President Ren Martyn. "This event is possible because of the generosity of the Brown and Wilson families who have hosted it at their breathtaking family farm in the heart of the Yampa Valley each year. Huge thanks to them!

Rotarian, organizer and Boys & Girls Club programs manager Kelly Landers said she's super thankful to volunteer bartenders Mathew Rochon (of the Bike Match) and Margaret Kottman (of the Christmas Wish List), Alex & Lee with Soul Spark Event Planning, Strings for lending all their outdoor chairs, Chairperson Ren Martyn and more for making the event such a success. The event was sold out and fully sponsored this year.

"We are all so thankful to those of you who attended," says Landers. "The Blinky Light Challenge sponsored by the Vanatta Group was a success and the match was obtained. And the live and silent auction were a hit too. The Club and the Ski Town Rotary Grants are so thrilled with the event and excited to use the funds generated to help our youth BE GREAT. Hopefully Mother Nature will be a little more accommodating in 2024!"

The event was held in the Brown Barn located in the middle of the Yampa Valley, one of the most majestic places you will find in Steamboat. Attendees also kicked up their heels while dancing to the tunes of Colorado's famous Narrow Gauge, which filled the barn with favorite rock n roll and country tunes. Helping was a full bar and three whiskey bars from partners Pendleton, Mythology and American Woman, with food provided by Steamboat Meat & Seafood Company, serving Pork Sliders, Jalapeno Poppers, BBQ Riblets, Meatballs and more!

FM Light & Sons also sponsored a best dressed event, awarding a $200 Gift Card to the winner.

But the crown jewel was the live and silent auctions, featuring Steamboat Powdercats Trip for 2, Denver Broncos United Club Level Tickets, Rockies Box, 1/2 Day Fly Fishing on private waters, Cabo San Lucas House and more.

"It was a great event for everyone," says Martin, thanking everyone who attended and help put it open. "And 100% will go back to the community!"
